The right contractor can add or take away value also. A professional design to start with combined with the right materials will add much more enjoyment now and actually increase your re-sale value. That means a good return on your investment and that is more complex than just adding a new deck.
A trap that I see some homeowners fall into today starts with the idea of value but does not end up the way that it should. Placing too much emphasis on price vs square footage can lead to cheap bids from cheap contractors and that can be like playing with fire.
